From Indian Soil to Better Oil: The Story of Girnar 4-5

When you look at a bottle of cooking oil, you probably think about what is inside it.

But at Grainlly, we believe the better question is: What did the oil begin with?

Because the quality of an oil doesn't start in the bottle. It starts in the soil, with the seed, the variety of groundnut, and the way it is cultivated.

That is why Grainlly chooses Girnar 4-5 groundnuts for its groundnut oil.

The Story Behind Girnar 4-5

Girnar 4 and Girnar 5 are not ordinary groundnut varieties. They were developed in India through collaborative research involving the ICAR-Directorate of Groundnut Research and ICRISAT, with the aim of developing high-oleic groundnuts suited to Indian conditions.

Today, these varieties are recommended for Kharif cultivation across major groundnut-growing regions including Gujarat, Rajasthan, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh.

What makes them particularly interesting is their fatty acid profile.

While conventional groundnut varieties may contain around 40-50% oleic acid, Girnar 4 and Girnar 5 contain nearly 78-80% oleic acid in their oil. They also have an oil content of around 53%.

And this is where the conversation moves from the farm to your metabolism.

Why Does Oleic Acid Matter?

Your body doesn't just need fat. It needs the right types of fat.

Oleic acid is a monounsaturated fat, the same broad family of fats found in foods such as groundnuts, almonds and olive oil. When unsaturated fats replace some saturated fats in the diet, they can support a healthier cardiovascular profile.

But metabolic health is bigger than cholesterol alone.

Your metabolism is influenced by your overall diet, body composition, physical activity, sleep and energy balance. The quality of the fats you regularly consume is one part of this larger picture.

A well-balanced diet that includes unsaturated fats can help support cardiovascular health, cell function and the absorption of fat-soluble vitamins. And because dietary fat is energy-dense and contributes to satiety, using the right amount can also help make meals more satisfying.

That matters when you're trying to build sustainable eating habits.

But Can Groundnut Oil Help With Fat Loss?

Let's get one thing clear: no cooking oil directly burns body fat.

Fat loss comes from a sustained energy deficit created through your overall nutrition and lifestyle.

However, the quality of your cooking oil still matters.

Choosing an oil with a favourable unsaturated-fat profile, while keeping total quantity appropriate, can be part of a balanced diet designed to support long-term metabolic and cardiovascular health.

Think of it this way:

You don't build metabolic health with one meal.

You build it through hundreds of small decisions-
the grains you choose,
the protein you eat,
the quality of your fats,
your daily movement,
your sleep,
and the consistency you maintain over years.

That's why Grainlly looks beyond the oil itself.

We look at the groundnut that creates it.

Because when better nutrition begins with better raw materials, the difference doesn't just belong in the bottle. It becomes part of the everyday food you cook, share and eat.

Good oil begins with good groundnuts.

And at Grainlly, that journey begins with carefully selected Girnar 4-5 groundnuts.
